Joomla Faster

Joomla was born on August 17th 2005, though the name didn't actually come into use until September 1st of that same year. The name is the English spelling of the Arabic word which means "all together." Joomla 1.5 is certainly all together. It is a significant upgrade from its predecessor versions, and well worth checking out.

Joomla is a content management system (CMS). It is open source software, meaning that it is free to use and change as you like. There is a large and very enthusiastic Joomla community that has built up around the software. The Internet is teeming with Joomla tutorials, Joomla templates and just about everything else to do with Joomla Faster. The Joomla 1.5 user is certainly not alone!

Joomla comes out of the box all ready to go. It has all the features you will need to build stunning websites, but you are not stuck with just the basics. The Joomla software is designed to allow modular extensions, which add functionality. It's a bit like the plugins that certain other software types use.
